The ability to thread a sewing machine is extremely important for a beginner seamstress. An incorrectly inserted needle can cause a lot of trouble. At best, the machine will simply stop working. But the needle can pop out and cause injury. Therefore, before you start sewing, practice inserting the needle.
It is necessary
- - sewing machine;
- - a needle;
- - small ("watch") screwdriver.
Instructions
Step 1
Most sewing machines are sold with a needle already inserted. But needles are not a universal object, they come in different thicknesses. For each fabric, it must be selected. So try to learn how to insert the needle right away. Use a small screwdriver to unscrew the screw and carefully remove the needle, being careful not to turn it over. Look and remember how she stood. Usually the needle position is indicated in the instructions. Read it and save it. Pay attention to which needle is in your machine. They can be cut or round cone. In the future, buy just such needles.
Step 2
Looking at the needle, you will see that it has a long groove on one side. This will be your guideline, because the position of the groove should always be the same. There are machines where this groove should be right in front of the seamstress. As a rule, they only give a zigzag stitch. In ordinary household machines, the groove is facing to the right. If the needle has a cut-off flask, then the cut is located on different machines either in the direction from the seamstress, or from the side of the sleeve.
Step 3
Unplug the electric clipper before replacing a broken needle or replacing it with a thinner or thicker one. Place the needle bar in its highest position. This is done using a flywheel. Unscrew the needle clamp screw. Take out the old needle and put it in the box or stick it into the needle bar. Read the numbers on the broken needle before discarding it.
Step 4
Choose the right type and thickness of the needle. Turn it with the groove in the desired direction. Insert the needle into the hole until it stops. Tighten the screw firmly to prevent the needle from dangling or popping out. Thread in the thread. Try sewing on an unnecessary piece of the same fabric before sewing on parts. If the machine for some reason does not sew, select a needle of a different thickness.
