Avito is a popular site for private classifieds for sale. There you can buy and sell everything - from an iron to a car. But such popularity attracts scammers who develop cunning schemes according to which the seller or the buyer can be left without money and without goods.
The most popular type of fraud on Avito is to entice the merchant for information about his bank card. How does this happen? A buyer responds to your ad for sale, who assures that he really needs this product, but he cannot meet in person, because lives in another city. And he asks you to send him the goods by mail, and he will make an advance payment to your bank card (Yandex-money, PayPal and other electronic systems). By transferring the account number to the buyer, the seller runs the risk of running out of money. The buyer will assure that he transferred the money and will require additional information about your card, which will allow him to safely withdraw money from your account. In this case, you can protect yourself only by not transferring such data to anyone. And not to mess with buyers allegedly from other cities.
It is often possible to fall for the bait of the “lower class” scammers. They do not ask for your personal data, but they do ask you to put money on your phone. Allegedly, they are already going to buy you, and the funds suddenly ran out, and suddenly they get lost and do not find you … After transferring even 100 rubles from you to their phone number, they simply disappear.
There are those who really need the product, but they could not negotiate a discount over the phone. Arriving, looking and deciding that they are buying this product, they say with sadness in their voice that they only have one and a half thousand rubles with them, and not two, as you asked. In response, they wait for your reaction, and more often the sellers give in, after all, people have arrived, everything suits them. It is for your feelings of guilt that this move is designed. However, it is worth saying that this does not suit you and you will not sell the product for such a price, the missing 500 rubles are mysteriously found.
Of course, not only sellers but also buyers suffer from scammers. Most often, buyers are faced with the fact that the declared product does not correspond to reality. Do not buy an item that is exhibited without a photo or photos are clearly taken from some site. The more real product photos, the better. When meeting, do not hesitate to inspect the item in detail and carefully, a rare seller will report all the shortcomings.
There is a group of products that should not be purchased on Avito at all. First, these are animals. Breeders and nurseries of purebred animals sell their pets only through their websites. Secondly, auto parts, which may be defective, and rubber generally have cuts. Electronics sold on such sites may have a criminal record, and its performance is very difficult to verify. And, of course, you will not receive any guarantee.
