A pennant is a narrow, long, forked flag at the end. Previously, it was raised on the mast of warships while sailing. Now pennants are hung during the holidays, they serve as a badge of distinction at awards ceremonies or a commemorative sign at the celebration of anniversaries.

It is necessary

  • - Whatman paper or watercolor paper;
  • - gouache, markers, felt-tip pens;
  • - fabric, paint on fabric, decorative cord.

Instructions

Step 1

Make a paper pennant. Determine its size: smaller flags are needed for home celebrations, and larger flags for larger rooms or outdoor events. Take a sheet of watercolor paper or whatman paper that is twice the size you expect.

Step 2

Fold the sheet in half and draw the shape of the pennant. It can be a narrow or wide triangle, resemble a knight's shield (the upper part is rectangular with rounded corners, the lower one resembles a bow bend or a sharp base of a drawn heart), or it can be simple rectangular or square. For special occasions, such as Valentine's Day, you can make heart-styled pennants.

Step 3

Draw a pattern on both sides of the workpiece. This can be done with markers, paints, felt-tip pens, even pencils or crayons. If you are using paints, then first apply the contours with a simple pencil, only with very faint lines.

Step 4

Color in the drawing, first all the details in the lightest color, then the one that is darker. For example, your pennant comes in three colors: yellow, red, and black. Paint over all the yellow parts, then all the red ones, then the black ones. Make sure that the paint has time to dry before taking on another color, so the colors will not mix.

Step 5

Take a stick or string, put it in the fold from the inside out. Glue both sides of the pennant so that it is threaded onto the string.

Step 6

Sew the cloth pennant. Choose the size, shape and color of your pennant. Fold the fabric in half and cut out, leaving 1 centimeter seam allowance. Embroider the pennant or paint with special fabric dyes, you can use beads and other decorations. It is best to use a stencil for drawing.

Step 7

Place the string in the fold and sew the halves of the pennant. Trim the edges with thick threads, braid, and a beautiful decorative cord with tassels.
