Step 1
When choosing a fabric for an evening dress without a pattern, you need to be guided by the following considerations. You need a cut that is wider than the half girth of the hips. The wider the cut, the more beautiful folds there will be, and, accordingly, the dress will look more luxurious. You need to buy a piece in 2 lengths of the product, adding a few more centimeters for processing the bottom and belt.
Step 2
Fold the cut seam side up. Find the midpoints of the edges and connect them with a line. This will be the shoulder line. To find a place for the neckline, divide this line in half. From the resulting mark, set aside equal distances of 10-12 cm to the right and left and make an incision. From this point, cut parallel to the edges. Its length depends on the style of the dress, that is, it can be short or almost to the waist. An evening dress can have a slit both in the front and in the back, the second option looks even more impressive. Overlock the slices.
Step 3
The pleats of the evening gown are formed right on the figure, so at this stage you will most likely need an assistant. It all depends on whether your dress will have folds or ruffles. If ruffled, place a basting seam over the shoulders. Try on the dress, forming ruffles that should be symmetrical. You can fasten them with a line. As for the folds, it is better to first pin them off with pins, stitch them in, and then pull the pins out. After that, it remains only to sew the side seams, process the bottom and sew the belt.
Step 4
The folds can be arranged in several rows - along the shoulder seams, chest and waist lines. First place the shoulder seams as instructed in the previous step. Then fold and pin the folds along the chest line and stitch them. The last stage is the folds at the waist line. An evening dress can also be asymmetrical. In this case, gathers or folds are stacked in any direction. But this method is not very suitable for beginners, as the dress may turn out to be skewed.
Step 5
An original evening dress can be made from four two large silk scarves. A skirt is made from one. To do this, it is enough to sew a scarf into a ring and stitch an elastic belt to one of the long sides exactly to match the fabric. The second scarf is draped around the torso, and various options are possible. For example, this. Baste or pin one short side of the scarf to the belt from the intended right side seam to the middle of the front. Slide the scarf up, then around your neck. Sew the other end to the belt from the middle to the left side. Where the scarf touches the back of the head, stitch and tuck in the ruffles. Sew the halves of the front from the waist to about the chest line. The outer edge can be stitched with an elastic thread so that the bodice fits snugly around the figure.
