To quickly sew an evening dress, it is not at all necessary to go to a professional studio. It is enough to master the needle or basic machine stitches, show a little imagination - and you can make a spectacular outfit for a friendly party yourself. To speed up your work, choose a simple pattern and try to avoid complicated seams and other tailoring tricks.
It is necessary
- - finished skirt or fabric for sewing it;
- - linen for the bodice (lace, knitwear - "stocking");
- - threads;
- - a needle;
- - sewing machine;
- - overlock;
- - paper;
- - pencil;
- - centimeter;
- - decorative braid;
- - rubber;
- - belt (scarf, ribbon, belt);
- - optional: a piece of lace or mesh for the upper skirt.
Instructions
Step 1
Audit your wardrobe. If you have a dressy skirt, it can be the basis for a homemade evening dress. For the upper part - bodice - buy a companion fabric of suitable colors and textures. Whenever possible, choose a fabric with non-frizzy cuts (for example, lace) - this will simplify the processing of edges.
Step 2
Measure the circumference of your chest with a centimeter and cut out a rectangle from the fabric. Provide 1.5 cm allowances for the side seams and the bottom of the cut part; for the top hem, leave approximately 2 cm (1 in.) of stock.
Step 3
Turn the fabric right side down and sew a back seam. Then overcast the top cut by hand or overlock, form a drawstring and sew a straight stitch close to the edge.
Step 4
Pass a narrow elastic or a nice drawstring through the top hem. Sew on top of the decorative tape straps.
Step 5
Overcast the bottom of the bodice. If it is made of non-friable cloth, you can leave the edge unworked.
Step 6
Attach the bottom of the finished upper part of the evening dress with the right side to the wrong side of the skirt belt. Sew pieces of clothing with a hand blind stitch, or overlap with a decorative machine stitch on the right side of the fabric.
Step 7
Look in stores for what is called a jersey fabric - "stocking" - a knitted section closed in the form of a tube. Choose the right width and length and you can do without the back seam. It is enough to process the top and bottom edges of the bodice.
Step 8
If there is no suitable skirt in your wardrobe, sew the bottom of the dress with your own hands. We recommend a simple but effective pattern - "sun". It is built in the form of a circle, in the center of which a circle is drawn according to the girth of the waist and another 3-4 cm for freedom of fit.
Step 9
To create a long skirt pattern, you will need a wide piece of fabric. On a narrow woven cut, cut the product from two parts - semicircles ("half sun").
Step 10
Stitch the side seams (if the skirt is in two parts); process the bottom and top cuts.
Step 11
Pair the bodice with the skirt. If the joint of the two pieces of the cut is unprofessional, veil it with a beautiful belt. An original strap, a scarf or a ribbon of a suitable design can play its role.
