Children love to help their parents with household chores, so when they start cooking lunch or dinner, their beloved child turns out to be from head to toe in flour, dough, and jam. So that every culinary experiment does not end with a big wash, sew a children's apron for your assistant.

Instructions

Step 1

Build an apron pattern on paper. Both parts must be drawn in the form of rectangles: the upper one will be located vertically, the lower one - horizontally. Use a tape measure to measure the width of your baby's chest from one armpit to the other. Draw a horizontal line of this length on paper. Divide it in half and put a full stop there.

Step 2

Measure from underarms to knees or below, depending on how long you want the apron to be. From a point on the drawing, draw such a line vertically downward.

Step 3

Determine the half-girth of the child's hips. Divide the resulting figure in half. Set this value aside from the bottom point of the vertical line segment to the right and left. Measure from hem to waist and at this level draw a line parallel to the bottom of the apron. Finish the pattern by closing all sides of the resulting rectangles. Add 3 cm of seam allowance around the entire perimeter.

Step 4

Attach the pattern to the fabric, secure it around the perimeter with safety pins. Trace the outlines of the apron with tailor's chalk and, after removing the paper, cut out. Sweep the apron by hand. Choose a contrasting color of thread so that it can be easily pulled out after use. Fold the edges of the apron 1, 5 cm, iron the fold, then fold it again to the same width. Secure the hem with a needle-forward seam.

Step 5

Choose a satin ribbon that matches the color of the fabric. Cut four pieces of 20 cm long from it. Sew them to the top corners of the apron and at the waist.

Step 6

Machine all seams. After that, pull out the thread with which you swept the hem.

Step 7

Sew a pocket on the apron for convenience and decoration. Cut a square from the fabric to the correct size, taking into account the allowances. Fold over seam allowances and iron. Sew the upper side of the square. Place the pocket on the center of the apron at waist level and secure with a zigzag seam.

Step 8

To make a children's apron not only practical, but also interesting, decorate it with applique. You can sew a picture in the form of an apple, pear, strawberry, etc. on the pocket or depict the animal's face on the entire surface of the apron. For example, the eyes of a hare in this case will be located on the upper rectangle, his smile - on the lower one, and the ears can be sewn as strings.
