It is very easy to sew a simple apron to effectively protect clothes when cooking or washing dishes.

Sew a one-piece apron and decorate it to your liking - appliqué, embroidery, flounces, oddly shaped pockets, etc. This apron protects your clothes better than the simple apron I described earlier.

We start working on the apron with the choice of fabric. Natural cotton is perfect (chintz, satin, as they were produced in the Soviet period). If you find pieces of such fabric bought and forgotten at home - great, because then it was a product of very good quality. You can also use denim, linen.

If you have never sewed an apron, first build a pattern on paper, and then pin it to the fabric and cut out the details of the apron (it is enough for experienced craftswomen to immediately draw the desired silhouette on the fabric). Do not forget about the seam allowances (0.5-1 cm).

Pre-measure the desired size of the product according to your figure (AB - the width of the upper part of the apron, BV - the height of the upper part, VG - the length of the lower part). The approximate sizes of an apron for a woman are given in the diagram, but you can also correct them as you wish.

Build a pattern for the main body. It is a hexagon, the two upper sides of which are concave (they can be built straight, but it will still be more comfortable in such an apron as in the photo). We also cut two narrow rectangles (ties) and one smaller rectangle (strap around the neck). A pocket or two pockets can be tailored to your liking and desire - large or small. You don't have to do them at all, because not everyone uses them.

The order of sewing the apron is as follows: we sew the apron with an oblique inlay made of the same fabric or of a suitable color (the width of the inlay can be about one and a half centimeters). Sew on the strap and strings. The last detail is the pockets. The apron is ready.

Helpful hint: it is more convenient to sew the strap in two pieces so that you can tie it around your neck. In this case, the apron will suit any family member - from the smallest to the tallest.
