A developing rug is a construction made of canvas with arcs attached to it. Small play details are suspended on the arches to help the child develop tactile, visual and auditory perception. Making a rug yourself is not difficult.
It is necessary
- - the cloth;
- - sewing accessories;
- - buttons, foil, mirror, rustling paper, etc.
Instructions
Step 1
Calculate the area of the complex and determine how many parts it will consist of. You can use a single-color canvas over the entire area, or you can sew a base from several patches of different colors. It is important that the pieces of fabric are bright and pleasant to the touch.
Step 2
Make the base of the rug. Sew pieces of fabric together, insert filler, and sew in squares to keep it from getting tangled. In the center of the base, make an applique from pieces of fabric - this can be a clock, an animal figurine, a house, etc. Do not use small parts that the baby can easily tear off and swallow - beads, beads, etc. If you are sewing on buttons, make sure they are firmly seated.
Step 3
Choose a flexible material from which you will make two arcs - this can be dense wire, for example. Sew two fabric covers for the arches, think over the way of attaching the arches to the mat (usually these are the simplest snap hooks). On the covers, wash the loops for attaching small toys.
Step 4
Sew a couple of soft toys with different fillings - these can be large balls, fine sand, dried cherry pits, etc. Hang thin satin ribbons of different colors on the arcs in random order. Make a toy in the shape of a pocket with a zipper - attach it to the base. Sheathe a small mirror with a cloth, adding a soft filler on the seamy side, make a small lace and hang it from the arc.
Step 5
Attach some Velcro toys to encourage your child to peel them off and stick them back on. Toys can be knitted or sewn from pieces of fabric - do not use glue or dyes.
Step 6
On one side of the rug, build a small window, place it as low as possible to the floor so that the child can reach. From a single piece of thick fabric, cut a hole for the window, sew the edges and make fabric shutters. Secure the flaps with Velcro.
