A developing rug is not only an amusing and interesting toy for a kid, but also a way of learning about the world around him, getting the first visual, tactile and auditory sensations. You can make a play mat for your child yourself.
It is necessary
- - fabric (different in texture);
- - sewing accessories;
- - padding;
- - wire arcs;
- - different toys.
Instructions
Step 1
Make the base of the rug. To do this, you will need several scraps of dense, non-slip, but pleasant to the touch fabric (the child will crawl on it), one whole canvas for the backing and filler (cotton wool, synthetic winterizer). Make a sketch of the rug and take the dimensions from there, the shape of the base - you can cut out separate parts from the patches, then connect them together. Cut out the backing, connect the top and bottom of the rug, sew them together. Fill the rug with padding through a small hole, distribute it by hand and sew. To prevent the padding from getting lost, you can sew on a typewriter or lay a few stitches on an already finished base.
Step 2
Make two arcs to which you will attach the toys. They will need two bases - strong but bendable sticks made of wire, soft plastic, etc. Cut two strips of the foam rubber of the same length, but their width should be enough to wrap the base of the arcs once. From above, the arc should be tightened into covers - two strips of fabric, you can take the same material that was used for the base. Using simple carabiners that you sew to the ends of the arches and to the four corners of the base of the mat, connect all the elements together. Cross the arcs crosswise.
Step 3
Make toys that you hang from arcs. These can be soft toys with various fillers - cotton wool, rustling paper or foil, cereals, large balls, etc. All elements of the rug should be bright and beautiful - develop the child's taste from infancy. Hang a couple of ready-made rattles, rings, animal figurines made of high-quality plastic, a mirror upholstered with fabric in the form of a sun, a bee, etc.
Step 4
Decorate the base of the rug. There should be many useful toys at the bottom of the rug - make an element with lacing, hide a rubber squeaker under the applique, glue a rustling flower, etc. Cover two pieces of cardboard with a cloth, sew them so that you get a window. Embroider or draw an animal, a fairy-tale character, or hide a mirror inside the window. The more toys fit on your rug, the longer the child will have fun with him, developing and playing.
