Macrame is a collection of specific knots that form a pattern. In this way, bags, panels, napkins, bracelets, phone cases and many other things are made. If you have a desire to learn macrame, then have a fair amount of patience and get down to business.
Instructions
Step 1
Please note that the main principle of macrame is knots, from which beautiful things are subsequently obtained. There are more than a hundred of them in this art, it is enough to know a few basic ones to skillfully sculpt works of art. For threads, prepare soutache, cotton or linen threads, hemp twine, or regular paper rope.
Step 2
To begin with, strengthen the support on which you will weave. You can take a 20x30x40 cm pillow and fix it, for example, on the back of a chair, tied tightly with a rope vertically.
Step 3
Then hang the thread on the support: take the working thread, fold it in half, pull it down under the thread tied on the pillow. Pull both ends of the thread into the loop and tighten.
Step 4
Now learn to weave a few basic knots, like a simple knot. So, when you hung the thread on the support, you have two ends - two threads. The right thread will be called the working thread, the left thread will be called the main one. Place a working thread on a support and loop over it. A simple knot is ready. Try to make a chain of knots, alternately weaving as a working one, then with the left, then with the right threads - you will get one of the main weaving of macrame.
Step 5
Try a double flat knot. A double flat knot is 2 identical knots: left-handed and right-handed. You will need 4 threads: 2 middle - warp, 2 at the edges - workers. To do this, hang 2 threads on the support, get 4 ends. Place the left thread across the warp and the right thread over the left. Then pull the right thread under the warp thread and pull its end into the loop that the left thread forms, gently pull on the outermost threads, the knot will tighten.
Step 6
Weave a knot tatting. You will need two threads, just hang one thread on the support. Draw the working thread around the main thread so that the end comes out under the loop and tighten the knot. If the knots are tied correctly, the leading and working threads did not change places during weaving, then the row of knots tied will easily move along the main thread, which at the end can be easily pulled out of the weaving.
