Embroidery is a complex and exciting hobby, which results in beautiful and skillful work, the pride of any craftswoman. There are many different embroidery techniques, but they all take into account common points - for example, the rules for preparing material for embroidery. If you embroider with counted stitches, then in order not to lose count, you need to mark the canvas. There is a ready-made canvas with markings, but it is limited in colors and textures, so you can learn how to mark the canvas with your own hands.

Instructions

Step 1

The easiest way is to count the cross-sectional and transverse threads of the embroidery material and draw horizontal and vertical lines on every tenth thread in order to obtain a weave of identical squares. You can mark the canvas in this way with ordinary sewing threads of a contrasting color, making the familiar seam "forward with a needle".

Step 2

Make neat, straight stitches of the same length - you can sew them through every cell, or you can sew them every two to five cells of the fabric. This distance will be most convenient for the craftswoman, and later you can easily pull out the markings from under the finished drawing.

Step 3

If you do not want to waste time marking with stitches, you can draw lines with special markers along the ruler - today sewing stores offer a large selection of various fabric markers. Do not skimp on markers, buy only high-quality products - otherwise, the markings can remain on the canvas and ruin your work.

Step 4

There are disappearing ink markers as well as markers that wash off easily with cold water. If you are planning long and voluminous embroidery, choose markers that wash off rather than disappear - otherwise, you will have to paint on the markings every two days.

Step 5

Just in case, test in advance the marker you bought on the piece of fabric of your choice for marking. If the lines disappear successfully after a couple of days, or are just as successfully erased, you can safely use a marker for embroidery.
