It is very pleasant when the Christmas tree is decorated with handmade toys. You can involve children in this, they usually like to sculpt, assemble or glue something.
Instructions
Step 1
Choose papier-mâché for your Christmas toy. Such crafts look very impressive, and there is nothing difficult in their manufacture. True, you will need a couple of days of time.
Step 2
So, in order to make a cute giraffe, take ordinary notebook sheets, tear into small pieces, no more than a square cm in size, fill with water in an iron bowl or saucepan and leave to soak overnight.
Step 3
In the evening, make a blank for a toy out of thick cardboard or a small board. Draw a silhouette of a giraffe on the selected material and cut it out with scissors. If you are making a workpiece out of wood, then use a small saw. Make a round hole in the animal's head.
Step 4
In the morning, put the pulp on low heat, bring to a boil and simmer for about half an hour. After that, drain the water and grind the mixture in a mixer, adding a little PVA glue. Of the nozzles, it is better to use one that resembles a spiral. As a result, you should get a homogeneous mass, similar in consistency to clay or softened plasticine.
Step 5
Gently lay the paper and glue mass on the silhouette of the animal, smooth it on top with a knife so that the surface is flat. Now make dents in the papier-mâché with a pencil to indicate the relief on the giraffe's back. Insert the string into the hole in the base and surround the papier-mâché hole so that there is no gap. Put the toy to dry.
Step 6
The next day, paint the animal with regular watercolors. Don't forget to draw the eyes, mouth and nose. However, dark buttons can be glued as eyes. Leave the giraffe to dry. When he's completely dry, tie a nice ribbon or bow around his neck. The Christmas toy is ready.
