The cute knitted toys that came from Japan are becoming more and more popular. Especially often they knit animals or dolls, this is a great way to show your talent for needlework. Amigurumi dolls can be miniature, play or interior.
Traditionally, using the amigurumi technique, miniature models are made that can be used as a souvenir or toy. The main differences between toys made in a different technique are a large round head, beady eyes, small legs and arms. For dolls, dresses and outfits are definitely needed, knitted from threads of the same thickness or thinner. Real Japanese amigurumi consist of simple elements - balls, sausages, cylinders.
Knitting amigurumi dolls
The technique consists of crocheting in a circle with single crochets, sometimes crochet stitches are also used. The size of the hook must be selected in such a way that the canvas is dense enough without holes. For knitting dresses, complex openwork knitting is often used, sometimes it is easier to sew parts of clothing from fabric or knit with knitting needles.
Knitting should be started with the so-called amigurumi ring. This method allows you to get a part without a hole, in contrast to the traditional start from a closed pigtail in a circle. The amigurumi ring is a thread wrapped in a circle, for which the loops of the first row are hooked. The ring may be large at first, but when the first row is completed, you need to pull on the end of the thread and it will tighten, completely covering the hole.
Amigurumi dolls: schemes
Further, knitting is carried out as usual, according to the scheme. Many amigurumi schemes have been translated from Japanese into Russian and represent an orderly description. Others have remained in the form of drawings - there is no need to be afraid of them, after a little analysis it will become clear that it is even more convenient to knit this way.
The crosses are single crochets, small checkmarks are added columns, large ones are double loops, an asterisk marks the place where the repetitions should start. The number of loops in a row is indicated in brackets. If everything is connected correctly, the beginning of the row should always coincide, therefore it is better to mark this place with a contrasting thread for control.
To facilitate knitting of thin handles and legs, special devices are sometimes used. You can take a thin pencil and tie it in a circle - it will turn out smoothly and neatly.
