A thread lampshade looks beautiful in almost any interior. Having come into fashion in the 70s, it is still combined with many interior styles. And you do not need to overpay money for an expensive thing, because such a lampshade can be easily made with your own hands.

It is necessary

  • - balloon,
  • - threads,
  • - glue,
  • - a needle,
  • - brush,
  • - knife.

Instructions

Step 1

Take a balloon and inflate it to the size you would like your lampshade to be. Secure it above the table so that it does not touch other objects. Cover the table itself with oilcloth or old newspapers, as you have to work with glue. When choosing a ball, pay attention to its shape. It is desirable that it be round.

Step 2

It is better to take more glue. You can even purchase a bucket from a hardware store. For work, choose starch-based glue or PVA.

Step 3

Lubricate the balloon liberally with Vaseline. It should not stick to the threads. You can choose any thread, depending on how you want your lampshade to look - more openwork, more dense. You can also use multiple colors. However, in this case, the threads you use must be the same thickness.

Step 4

Start wrapping the thread around the ball. If you are making such a lampshade for the first time, you should not try to make patterns from threads, it is better to focus on neat wrapping. You should have 4 to 5 even layers of thread wrapped around the balloon. Do not be intimidated by small gaps - they will give your lampshade a special charm.

Step 5

Put on your gloves, grab a glue brush and start smearing your lampshade. Each thread must be covered with glue, otherwise the lampshade will lose its shape or even simply fall apart.

Step 6

Now let the product dry properly and only then proceed to further work. Take a needle and pierce the base - a balloon. Then, use a sharp knife to cut a small round hole so that the shade can be put on the lamp. Pull out the burst balloon through it.

Step 7

Insert the lighting fixture into the resulting thread lampshade, screw on the light bulb. Your original DIY lamp is ready.
