The bass guitar is a string-plucked, more often electronic musical instrument, leading to most pop ensembles. Due to its prevalence, musicians sometimes simply call it "bass", according to the function performed (low notes, as a rule, are not assigned to other instruments). Both the convenience of playing the bass and the technical accuracy of the part depend on the correct position of the hands and body.
It is necessary
- - Bas-guitar;
- - cables;
- - combo amplifier;
- - a mediator (optional).
Instructions
Step 1
Connect your bass to your amplifier. Make sure all equipment and the instrument are at their lowest before turning on. You can configure it after turning it on. Experienced musicians and sound engineers have noted that with this little precaution, all electronic devices will last longer and wear less.
Step 2
You can play the bass while sitting or standing, depending on which you have to hold the bass a little differently. The sitting position of the musician is considered more comfortable: the chair should be of such a height that the knees do not stiffen. Spread your legs slightly and place the bass body between them. In this case, the neck should be located in the left hand.
Step 3
The headstock should be at shoulder level or slightly above. Check how comfortable you are: if the hand does not have to reach the first frets or bend the arm too much at the middle and last frets, then the position of the left hand is perfect.
Step 4
The right hand rests with the elbow on the protrusion of the body. The brush can be positioned in several places above the pickups, depending on the desired effect. For a more mellow or muted sound, move your hand along the strings. Use a pick or play with your fingers, depending on your preference and artistic goals.
Step 5
When performing standing, the general principles are the same: the bar should be at such a distance from the shoulder that you do not have to stretch or bend your arm. The difference is that you need to adjust the bass position using a strap.
