It is useful to look at the familiar things with a new look. Usually, such exercises help to cope with problems or adjust your attitude towards the world. Also, this activity can bear fruit in creativity. When you feel that ideas have dried up - draw everything that you see around. Even an annoying mosquito can be an interesting object, both in color and in shape. It is enough to turn your perception upside down.

Instructions

Step 1

Place your watercolor paper horizontally. Divide it in half with the vertical and horizontal axes. In the place of their intersection, there will be a bend of the mosquito body.

Step 2

Divide the vertical axis on the sheet into 6 equal parts. One such part will correspond to the length of the upper segment of the mosquito's body. Draw its rough outline.

Step 3

From the point of intersection of the axes, draw a line to the left and down. It should deviate from the axis by about 30 degrees. Draw the belly of the mosquito in this area. Its length is 3.5 times the length of the previous painted part of the insect. On the oval abdomen, mark the boundaries of the plates.

Step 4

The thickness of this part of the mosquito's body is equal to the length of the first segment, and its thickness, in turn, is half that.

Step 5

Draw the head of the mosquito in a triangle with rounded corners. Its height is equal to 1/12 of the length of the vertical axis, and the proboscis is 1.5 times more.

Step 6

Use thin lines to mark the location of the insect's legs. Calculate the proportional ratio of their segments and indicate the places of their connection with dots.

Step 7

Color the drawing with watercolors. First, mix the main shade for the insect abdomen. Combine herbal, ocher and lemon yellow in the palette. Apply it to the body of the mosquito. In the area closer to the legs, add ocher. Take a clean, wet brush and blur the color on the left side of the abdomen - it is more illuminated, so it looks almost white from the edge. Darken the right side of the abdomen to emphasize the volume of the subject. Use a mixture of brown and black to paint over the stripes on the torso.

Step 8

Wings are visible behind the back of the insect. They can be indicated by a light gray translucent spot. When the paint is dry, use a thin brush or watercolor pencil to paint darker streaks on the wings.

Step 9

Tint the legs in areas near the body with light brown, closer to the "knees" - green, and the rest of them in black. Please note that the color saturation at the base of the legs is different - darker at the edges than in the center.

Step 10

Fill the proboscis and head with black, emphasize the bulge of the eyes by adding blue.

Step 11

To prevent the main object of the drawing from getting lost on the variegated background, mark the background with wide strokes on damp paper. Blurring the background will highlight the more clearly drawn mosquito.
