A knitted skirt can be part of a homemade suit or a separate piece of clothing. With a certain skill, the needlewoman can perform this thing with complex multicolored, embossed or openwork patterns - an elegant festive outfit will turn out. However, for a pretty everyday thing, a less intricate design is acceptable. For example, try tying the skirt with an elastic band - then the fabric will be dense and elastic. It is recommended for a beginner to practice in a simple combination of front and back loops.

It is necessary

  • - tailor's meter;
  • - a sample of knitting with an elastic band 10x10 cm;
  • - yarn;
  • - two straight knitting needles;
  • - needle, thread and elastic band for assembling the finished product.

Instructions

Step 1

Make a skirt from two identical parts - front and back (you will then connect the finished cut elements with a neat seam from the wrong side). It is recommended to knit a belt from the waist line. To do this, you need to dial the required number of loops. Find out their number individually: multiply the knitting density by half the waist circumference of the future owner of the skirt; add a couple of centimeters for the freedom to fit the thing.

Step 2

Tie the strip with the front stitch about 3 centimeters in height and proceed with the hemming (for subsequent threading of the elastic tape). For her, you need to perform one row with the following alternations: two loops together as front; one yarn. Don't forget about edge loops!

Step 3

Again, perform the front surface, making 3 centimeters of the canvas. Now you can start making the elastic for the skirt. A 4x2 pattern is recommended, that is, alternating four front and two purl loops.

Step 4

Through every ten rows, make uniform increases by means of broaches ("bridges" between the front loops). Make additional loops with the front.

Step 5

Continue knitting until the desired width is reached. At the end of the work, the elastic for the skirt should consist of 10 front loops and 7 purl loops.

Step 6

Along the edge of a garment made with an elastic band, it is convenient to do the so-called "cat's teeth" hem. To do this, one row is performed, as on a belt: the front row of two stitches knitted together and a yarn over. Then a strip of the front surface of 2-3 centimeters in height continues, after which the lower hem is folded in half along the line of the holes formed on the canvas.

Step 7

You just have to hem two hemlines - the upper one on the belt and the lower decorative one. At the same time, do not forget to leave a small hole on the seamy side of the belt to insert the elastic band into it.
