The traditional elastic band on knitted fabric is made using a simple alternation of the front and back loops. Usually, the bottom of the products and the line of the neckline, sleeves and trousers are designed in this way. There are many varieties of such elastic patterns - you just have to choose the best option for your model. To diversify your work, try knitting patterns of different beautiful elastic bands on the needles.

It is necessary

  • - two straight or circular needles;
  • - two balls of yarn of different colors.

Instructions

Step 1

Sew an elastic with a multi-color knit. Stretch striped fabric is an easy way to transform a familiar pattern. For a sample, cast on an even number of stitches (for example, 14) and knit the first six rows with a 1x1 elastic - alternating one front and one purl. Use yarn of the same color, for example, red.

Step 2

In the seventh row of knitting, leave the red yarn and switch to a different color (for example, orange). Make an orange canvas six rows high. After that, you need to start working with red yarn again.

Step 3

Note that from the edge of the work, unused thread will be pulled upward (“feed”). Try not to let it sag or constrict your knitting.

Step 4

You can make an even more interesting multi-colored pattern - the so-called corrugated elastic band from the same red and orange threads. In this knitting option, you need to dial the loops in such a way that their number is divisible by 6, plus two more pairs of loops. Example: 12 + 4 = 16 stitches on your knitting needles.

Step 5

Knit the first row of the pattern: first knit one front loop of red yarn, then start repeating these alternations (they will make up one element of the pattern):

- a pair of orange yarn knit stitches;

- 1 front of red yarn;

- purl pair of orange yarn;

- 1 knit red yarn.

Work in this pattern until you complete the row (the first knit stitch of the row does not count!).

Step 6

Start making the second row of pleated elastic. Its first loop is purl, made of red thread. Next, do:

- a pair of purl loops with orange thread;

- 1 purl red thread;

- a pair of facial orange thread;

- 1 purl with red thread.

Repeat the pattern to the end of the row (not counting the initial purl loop).
