The hat is knitted strictly in size. As a rule, it should fit snugly to the head, therefore, when calculating the number of loops for knitting, this fact should be taken into account. In addition, it is important to know that knitting products with a cloth "elastic" tends to stretch.

It is necessary

  • - yarn;
  • - knitting needles.

Instructions

Step 1

Take measurements (head circumference).

Step 2

To calculate the required number of loops, dial 20 loops on the needles and knit several rows, forming a sample. At the same time, knit it, alternately knitting the front and back loops, forming a canvas pattern. In the next rows, knit the loops as they "look", ie. knit front loops with front loops, and purl loops with purl.

Step 3

Having knitted 20 rows in this way, calculate the number of loops that you will need to knit a hat. In doing so, be sure to take into account the density of your knitting.

Step 4

Decide how many loops at your knitting density correspond to one centimeter. Calculate the required number of loops.

Step 5

Start a set of hat loops.

Step 6

Knit the first row with front and back loops, alternating them. Knit the second row as the loops "look". The third row and all subsequent ones have a peculiarity: when knitting the front loop, insert the knitting needle into the loop located next to it lower than the one that you are knitting. At the same time, the fabric will turn out to be a little loose, so do not stretch the loops, try to achieve the maximum knitting density.

Step 7

To form a lapel, knit 6-8 centimeters of the fabric and continue to knit the fabric of the hat itself. At a distance of 10 centimeters from the level of the lapel (or 16–20 from the level of the beginning of knitting), begin to smoothly decrease the loops, knitting the bottom of the cap.

Step 8

Decrease on both sides of the fabric, evenly distributing the reduced loops, until there are three loops on the needles. Fasten them and sew the cap with a knitted stitch. Dampen the garment with water and let dry so that the hat shrinks as desired. If desired, you can sew a pom-pom to it.

Step 9

So that the edge of the cap does not stretch, it can be decorated in the second way. To do this, knit a hat as described above, but without knitting a lapel. Then cast on 10 loops on the knitting needle and knit the finishing edge separately. The length of the trim should be the same as the measurement taken (head circumference).

Step 10

Sew the finished trim to the edge of the cap with a knit stitch. This option will allow the product not to stretch during wear and fit snugly to the head.
