Many novice anglers, due to their inexperience, acquire guards, which are very often not suitable for those jigs that they use for winter fishing, or require additional improvements. So, is it possible to make your own gatehouse at home that fully meets your requirements? It turns out you can.
It is necessary
nippers, a sharp knife or scissors, silicone cambric, lavsan or astrolon, colored markers, sandpaper (zero) and an ordinary gypsy needle
Instructions
Step 1
Start making the gatehouse by preparing the necessary tools, for example, you need to cut off the tip of a gypsy needle, and the diameter of its tip should correspond to the thickness of the fishing line. It is advisable to pre-cut the fishing line.
Step 2
Select the jig for which you will make the gatehouse. Cut out a trapezoidal strip from lavsan (base sizes 5 and 3 millimeters) with a circle at the thin end (here it must be remembered that its length depends on the weight of the jig and can vary from 5 to 15 centimeters).
Step 3
Using a gypsy needle, punch two holes in the resulting workpiece: one in the center of the circle, and the other in the center of the future gatehouse.
Step 4
Take a fine sandpaper, bend it and with slight pressure, slowly work the plane of the gate from the wide base to the end in order to reduce its thickness (the process is completed when the suspended jig smoothly bends the gate about 40 degrees).
Step 5
Choose colored cambric according to your taste. Please note that the second cambric must be of a smaller diameter and differ from the first in color.
Step 6
Put the first cambric on the wide end of the gatehouse and insert the second into it, just insert a small piece of dense braid from the electrical wire (in order for the gatehouse not to slip, the diameter of the braid must match the diameter of the fishing line you are using, as it is passed through it).
Step 7
Use colored markers to color the zebra-shaped gatehouse using the colors you are used to. That's it, your gatehouse is ready to use. As you can see, it will take you no more than five minutes to produce it.
