Fresh flowers are a great object for a novice artist. Their unusual shape and interesting play of colors will help you develop your drawing skills. If you are afraid that you will not have time to sketch the cut flowers and they will wither, go to the open air. A sketch made during the day in nature can be completed at home from a photograph.
Instructions
Step 1
Place a sheet of watercolor paper horizontally. Divide it mentally into 4 equal parts with the vertical and horizontal axes. The bulk of the flower will be in the upper right part.
Step 2
Divide this quarter in half with a vertical line. The left half should be occupied by a flower. Sketch its outline in the form of an oval, slightly extending beyond the central vertical axis of the sheet.
Step 3
Check the height of the flower (without the stem) - it should be half its length. Measure a third of the height and draw a horizontal line that bends slightly in the center - this is the place where the lower petal bends. Make its lower border wavy. When drawing the outline of the flower, use a hard pencil (2T or 4T) and try to minimize the pressure.
Step 4
Another third of the height is occupied by two petals on the left. They are at an angle of 30 ° with respect to the bottom and only reach the middle. Draw two vertical petals to the right of them. Lastly, add another one that looks out from above.
Step 5
Mark the stem of the flower with two vertical lines, and then start working with the color. You can convey delicate shades of pink using watercolors. To make the drawing look three-dimensional, you need to reflect the color change due to the peculiarities of lighting as accurately as possible.
Step 6
Prepare all the necessary shades in advance in the palette. To make the transition from one tone to another smooth, you will need to paint very quickly - there will be no time to mix the desired shade. Prepare a combination of pink and yellow in one "hole" of the palette and dilute it with water to a translucent state. Then combine pink and orange - this shade should be saturated. You will also need light lilac - a combination of pink and blue.
Step 7
With the first color, put spots on the most illuminated places of the flower: on the topmost petal, in the center of those on the right and left of it.
Step 8
A mixture of pink and orange will bring out the glow of the petals at the fold. Draw a thin line along the top edge of the lower petal and paint over the center of the petal above it.
Step 9
With lilac fill the rest of the space in the grooves of the petals. This color should become richer and colder, and pink should prevail on the more prominent parts.
Step 10
Color the stem of the flower with two shades of green. Draw the stamens in the center of the inflorescence with yellow and ocher.
