Fenichka is a symbol of friendship and love, brought from pre-Columbian America, first to Europe, and then to Russia. The material for their manufacture is any available means: threads, beads, leather, narrow strips of fabric. The latter option is ideal for weaving wide bracelets, but in addition to the material, it is important to choose the right weaving method.

Instructions

Step 1

To get started, cut five solid strips about 50 cm long and 2 cm wide: red, yellow, green, blue, purple. If fabric frayed, sew over the edges with a stitch. In this case, the stripes should be wider and longer. Add 1 cm on each side, iron.

Step 2

Take the strips in your hand and place them in the palm of your hand in the following order from left to right: red, yellow, green, blue, purple. Tie a knot at the top 10 cm from the edge, and pin it to the fabric with a pin. A braiding machine can be used in place of the fabric if you have one. Secure all five strips with pins. Position the risers so that there is a large enough distance between them so that they do not get tangled.

Step 3

Move the purple stripe over the blue one and drag it under the green one. Throw over the yellow again and run under the red, then tighten the weave. Secure it with a pin on the left side.

Step 4

Take the blue thread and throw it over the green one, stretch under the yellow one, then over the red and under the purple. Tighten the woven row, making sure that the strips are tight, do not wrinkle or come out. Clip to the left, above the purple one. The principle of weaving such baubles is on top of one, under the other. Keeping it in each row, braid the entire bauble, leaving a 10 cm tail. Make sure there is enough length for the circumference of the wrist. If the length is short, continue weaving. If all is well, tie a knot at the end of the braided work.

Step 5

To make the bauble even wider, use 7, 9, another odd number of strips. In this case, the weaving method will change a little, but the principle will remain the same: first throw the strip on the far right over one, then under the other, and so on until the end of the row. Experiment with color choices, using contrasting tones first and then similar ones.
