Step 1
If you are serious about doing fine art photography, you will need a good DSLR. It is very difficult to obtain high-quality photographs with the help of an ordinary "soap dish", and in many cases it is impossible. Nevertheless, you can learn how to create basic photo effects even on photographs taken with a simple household camera.
Step 2
In modern photography, photo effects are created in two ways. In the first case, the required effect is achieved during shooting by using light filters and other devices. So, very often photographers use the so-called spectacular light filters, which make it possible to obtain, for example, beautiful cross-shaped, star-shaped, etc. rays on light sources caught in the frame.
Step 3
With light filters, you can get soft focus effects when the photo looks slightly blurry. To blur the focus, you can use a regular protective filter to which a thin layer of Vaseline is applied. The center of the glass remains clean, while the amount of petroleum jelly increases towards the edges. As a result, only the edges are slightly blurred in the photo, while the center remains in focus.
Step 4
In the second version, the desired photo effects are obtained by processing the photograph on a computer in graphic editors. Both well-known programs - in particular, Adobe Photoshop, and special photo editors can be used. The latter are convenient in that many of them provide the ability to use built-in photo effects. This allows you to achieve the desired result with a couple of mouse clicks.
Step 5
One of the most commonly used photo effects is creating collages - for example, superimposing an image of a person on a background. You can take a photo on a street in your city, cut out your image in Photoshop and paste it onto a photo of a street in Paris. With good quality work, only an expert will be able to understand that the overlay effect is used.
Step 6
When working with Adobe Photoshop, you need the SC5 version. It has improved many features of previous versions, added some new ones. There are many detailed tutorials for working with Photoshop, which describe all the stages of creating the desired effects.
