Many amateur flower growers grow at home an evergreen semi-shrub plant - nightshade, which reaches a height of 50 centimeters. It is a very beautiful plant with orange-red, poisonous berries that resemble a cherry. The bright fruits give the nightshade a special appeal. So how do you grow nightshade at home?

Step 1
Nightshade is rightfully considered an annual plant, but with proper and careful care, it can be grown for a longer time. To do this, prune the nightshade vigorously every year after the leaves dry and the fruits fall, and then transplant into new, fresh soil. When replanting, use a soil mixture consisting of one part peat, one part humus, one part turf and half a part sand.
Step 2
Provide bright lighting for nightshade, as this plant prefers a temperate, warm climate. This can be achieved by placing the plant pot on the sill of a south-facing window. In the summer, take your nightshade out into the fresh air - a garden plot, veranda or balcony.
Step 3
Water nightshade in winter in moderation, in summer on the contrary - you should make abundant watering, while trying not to overmoisten the soil too much. In the summer, spray the bush daily from a spray bottle with warm, soft, settled water. Feed your nightshade once a week (in summer) with a liquid compound fertilizer that is suitable for flowering plants. In winter, it is enough to feed the ornamental bush once a month, the optimum temperature for growing during this period is 15 degrees.
Step 4
Propagate nightshade by cuttings and seeds. Seeds can be sown all year round, preferably at the very beginning of spring. After two weeks, the seedlings will sprout and when three to four leaves appear, plant the shoots in prepared pots. Root cuttings in early spring in a mixture of sand and peat. To grow nightshade, there must be well-drained soil, since when the water stagnates, the plant dies. But it is also not recommended to dry out the bush.
