Flowers are a common attribute of any holiday. They are inextricably linked with the happiest moments of our lives. Therefore, it is doubly offensive when a beautiful bouquet fades too quickly. To eliminate such troubles, study and remember the simple rules for caring for flowers.
It is necessary
- - a sharp knife or blade;
- - boiled water;
- - a silver or copper coin;
- - aspirin;
- - vinegar or citric acid;
- - sugar;
- - matches.
Instructions
Step 1
When bringing a bouquet into the room after a cold street, do not rush to unpack it and put it in the water. Sudden temperature changes are very harmful to flowers. It will be better if the bouquet is wrapped for about 1 hour at room temperature.
Step 2
Be sure to remove the gift wrapping, the bouquet will wither faster in it. Remove the lower leaves from the stems of the flowers. This is done to keep the leaves out of the water, thereby promoting the growth of putrefactive bacteria.
Step 3
The temperature and quality of the water also affect the life of the bouquet. It is advisable to use boiled water or let the tap water settle for at least 1 hour. The temperature regime depends on the specific characteristics of the plant. For example, for daffodils, hyacinths, amaryllis, carnations, lilies of the valley and gerberas, the water should be warm. But most flowers retain their freshness longer at 15-20 ° C. To activate the beneficial properties of water, dip a copper or silver coin into it. Remember to change the water every day and wash the vase thoroughly. Use a mixture of vinegar and salt to remove green deposits from the sides of the vase.
Step 4
Protect the flower vase from direct sunlight, drafts, heaters, and cigarette smoke. Also, you should not leave the bouquet next to the fruit, as they emit ethylene gas, which contributes to the wilting of plants.
Step 5
Another important point in caring for a bouquet is the daily pruning of flower stems. Thanks to this procedure, the nutrients in the water are better absorbed. Use a sharp knife to cut the stems in cold water. The cut should be at an angle, but at the same time, do not make the angle too sharp, otherwise the flower will have poor support. For lilacs, chrysanthemums, jasmine, rhododendron and other flowers with a hard stem, remove 2-5 cm of the skin and gently crush the tip of the stem. In carnations and cyclamens, it is recommended to cut the stem with a razor blade 2-3 cm.
Step 6
Plants such as daffodils, gerberas, poppies, chrysanthemums, when pruned, secrete milky sap, which has a detrimental effect on other flowers. To neutralize this juice, charcoal the stems of the flowers in the flame of a match or lower the stems in boiling water for 30-60 seconds (while the steam should not get on the leaves and buds).
Step 7
There are many recipes for nutrient solutions that prolong the life of plants. For roses, dahlias, chrysanthemums, add an aspirin tablet to the water. A tablespoon of vinegar or citric acid in 1 liter of water will also provide long-lasting freshness to your bouquet. 1-2 tablespoons of sugar have a beneficial effect on tulips, daffodils, asters, irises. Nutrient solutions should be changed no more often than once every 3-5 days.
Step 8
Pay attention to the compatibility of different plant species. Roses, lilies, lilies of the valley, carnations do not tolerate being close to other flowers.
