The brownie is the spirit of the home, the patron saint of the house, which ensures the normal life of the family, the health of animals and people, and fertility. According to Slavic beliefs, the brownie is a distant ancestor who is attracted to his home to protect himself from evil spirits. Sometimes he bothers at night, hides different things from you. Also, this creature loves to put things in order in the home and family relationships.
To appease the brownie for a long time and seriously, he needs to present gifts. It can be different food: pancakes, bread and salt, porridge with milk and eggs. You can give him tobacco. In addition, he loves all sorts of colored scraps and coins, showers, sparkles. His taste is unassuming: pour the milk into a saucer and put it on the floor. Leave a crust of bread on the table when you go to bed, or some honey in a special bowl so that the brownie comes out and dines at midnight sharp.
Previously, the hostess left a pot of fresh borscht or porridge in the stove, which she covered with coals. It was only necessary to make sure that the food itself was not oversalted.
