In the warm summer season, shorts for many become the most comfortable and functional clothing, especially if the shorts are stylish and beautiful, emphasizing the graceful female figure. You can sew shorts, widened at the bottom, with pockets and a dropped waist, by building a pattern based on a standard pattern of women's trousers with a high belt.
Instructions
Step 1
Take a pattern of ordinary women's trousers and slightly lower the waistline - no more than 3-5 cm. Measure the length of future shorts and mark at what length you need to cut the legs of the large pattern. Draw a straight line along the ruler at the mark you made, and remove the excess part of the pattern.
Step 2
On the front half of the pattern of future shorts, outline where the entrance to the pocket will be located - step back 3 cm from the side seam along the waist line, and then step down diagonally to the side seam. This will outline the line for the pocket.
Step 3
Draw a straight line from the dart to the bottom edge on both the front and back halves of the pattern. Cut the pattern along the line, close the dart and widen the bottom of the shorts, then finish the side seams so they should be straight. Now cut out the belt separately by drawing a rectangle of the desired length. The rectangle should be 16 cm wide.
Step 4
Then cut a decorative belt out of a different fabric and belt loops, which can also be made from a different fabric, to make them look original. Don't forget about seam allowances. The size of the belt loops without allowances should be 5x3 cm.
Step 5
On the front half of the pattern, cut a corner along the pocket line and cut out the pockets using the same fabric that you are sewing the shorts from. Also cut out and stitch a burlap pocket to the finished shorts from the inside.
Step 6
Sew all the details of the future shorts, making sure that they all match in the direction of the share thread. Sew on the belt, belt loops and decorative belt, connect the outer and crotch seams. Sew the bottom hem of the shorts.
