What child doesn't like to ride down an ice slide in winter? On store shelves, you can see many models of children's sleds. Almost all of them are made of either plastic or iron. Plastic cracks easily in severe frost, and iron sleds are very traumatic. And such sleds are practically not amenable to repair. Therefore, it is best to make a wooden sled with your own hands.
It is necessary
Drawing accessories, pine boards, self-tapping screws, tools for working with wood, several types of skin,, a burner
Instructions
Step 1
Decide on the future look of your sled. To do this, consult with your child. Ask him which sled he wants. Make a sketch together to visualize the future product. You also need to find out the size and weight of the child for whom the sled will be designed. It is necessary to calculate the size of the sled with some margin, since the child is growing rapidly.
Step 2
Develop a detailed drawing of the sled. It should indicate all the exact dimensions of each part. It is necessary to carefully make all the calculations so that there are no mistakes in the manufacture of the sleds themselves. Pay special attention to the runners. The width of the runners must be sufficient for the sled to slide freely on the snow surface. Narrow runners will slide only on the ice; on a thick layer of snow, they will fall through.
Step 3
Now decide on the type of tree from which you will make your sled. It is best to use pine planks that need to be handled correctly. It is necessary to make all the details from the boards according to the drawing you have developed. Perform the first fitting and check the accuracy of the connection of all parts. If somewhere you find flaws, then they need to be corrected. Every detail needs to be carefully finished to be smooth. To do this, use several types of skins. The edges of all parts must be carefully rounded so that there are no sharp corners anywhere.
Step 4
Now collect your sled. Use self-tapping screws to connect parts to each other. You can also use special glue. All self-tapping screws must be tightened well, but so that the wooden parts do not accidentally crack. Check all connections carefully. If you used glue, set the sled aside to dry completely.
Step 5
It remains only to decorate your craft a little. You should not paint the sled, as with intensive use, any paint will quickly crack and wear off. It is possible to paint only those parts with which there will be no mechanical contact. Decorate your sled with a scorcher. Inscribe your child's initials.
