Lambrequins are considered a versatile decorative tool that allows you to decorate the window, and at the same time hide the cornice, the upper part of the curtain. A rigid lambrequin can adjust the proportions of the window, as it is pulled on a solid base.
It is necessary
- - one or more fabric cuts;
- - dense glue base (non-woven, dublerin or proclamin) or bando-profi cloth;
- - iron or steam generator;
- - scissors;
- - pins;
- - double-sided Velcro tape;
- - sewing machine.
Instructions
Step 1
Make a pattern. Think over the shape of the lambrequin and cut out the base from the tracing paper - pin it onto the fabric and make patterns. The fabric should be prepared in advance - iron the material with an iron or a steam generator before opening (if the fabric wrinkles quickly and does not flatten well, then soak it before ironing). Immediately mark all the bends and geometric shapes, take into account the real height, length and width of the lambrequin. Do not forget to mark the seam allowance (2-4 cm) on the fabric. You should have two patterns for each element - from the main fabric and a dense basis.
Step 2
Connect the materials. Using a steam generator or iron, glue the base material to the glue base, that is, to the bando. Start joining the materials from the middle and work your way to the edges, making sure that there are no distortions, no tension, and no distortion of the pattern.
Step 3
Tie backing to the bando. The lining fabric must be pretreated (washed, soaked and ironed) to prevent steam shrinkage. Attach the lining to the bandeau with small pins, sew the layers, leaving room around the edges for piping.
Step 4
Attach decorative items. If you want to make appliques, then you need to use a bando with two adhesive surfaces - you will fix all the elements after connecting the base to the fabric. Attach the details of the lambrequin (folds, rings, perekidy) to the main canvas strictly according to the sketch.
Step 5
Sew on the Velcro (Velcro) - this is the fabric tape that will hold the bandeau and the curtain rod together. Sticky tape can be stitched to the top edge of the bando, stepping back a few centimeters from the edge so that it is not visible. The bottom edge of the Velcro must be attached to the lining manually - there should be no noticeable stitching on the lambrequin. Now you can decorate the bando with tassels, ribbons, etc.
