Instructions

Step 1

A pelmet is a short horizontal strip of fabric on a window, a decorative cornice in the form of trims or frills over a curtain or tulle. He hides the top of the curtain, gently framing it.

Step 2

Window decorations can be soft or hard. The soft ones are a lightweight structure that effectively accentuates the existing window trim. They often include a huge amount of lush details. They can be complex or simple, differ from each other in the combination of fabrics, finishes and other parts that complement the composition. Rigid lambrequins are a strip of fabric duplicated with some kind of hard material.

Step 3

First of all, you need to decide on the choice of their type. Usually, for the manufacture of lambrequins with their own hands, preference is given to those sewn from dense fabric that forms beautiful graceful folds, made using a solid frame or made in the form of a combined structure that combines light and hard materials.

Step 4

Sewing beautiful lambrequins is quite simple. To do this, you will need fabric, lining material, optional synthetic winterizer or non-woven fabric, cornice, colored pencil, furniture stapler, 1 meter of decorative cord, 50 cm of decorative tape. For complex models, pre-made patterns are useful.

Step 5

First, fix a plank over the window opening, which will serve as the basis for attaching the curtains. The place of its installation should be 10 cm higher than the frame, and the length of the fastening element cannot exceed the width of the window by more than 15 cm.

Step 6

If a lining fabric is used when sewing, then it must first be cut out using a pattern, ironed out and the main material must be stitched to it. Sew the lining in such a way that the upper part of the curtains is not touched, because it will be needed in order to turn the sewn material onto the front side.

Step 7

The sewn decorative elements for the window opening are attached to the center of the installed base using a furniture stapler. Then the free ends of the material are leveled symmetrically along the entire length of the cornice, fastening with staples in the right places.

Step 8

Hanging parts can be beautifully decorated with ribbon and cord, gently straightening the folds. Small plastic flowers sewn into the folds of the fabric look interesting. In addition, lambrequins for the hall can be decorated with colored ribbons, bows, beads, artificial butterflies and feathers.
