Not every woman can afford to make an individual order and purchase a unique handbag. With good taste and skill, you can turn an ordinary accessory from a store into an exclusive item. Embroidery with threads and silk ribbons, beads and rhinestones, additional details such as pockets, buckles and straps can be used. It all depends on your imagination. One way to decorate a leather bag is to sew flowers from the same material onto it.

Instructions
Step 1
Gather up the scraps of old leather. Unnecessary items such as bags, covers, tops of boots, as well as gloves and other clothing can serve as raw materials. To give the material a presentable look, polish it with petroleum jelly or castor oil and knead it well with your hands.
Step 2
Take a close look at fresh flowers or their images. Think about what details you need to cut out. It is recommended to make parts of the future decoration without hem, with even cuts. To prevent them from starting to shaggy, scrape off the leather underside with a knife and treat the inside of the cut parts with stain.
Step 3
Draw circles of different diameters using different sized glasses or compasses. It is better to cut out the petals with special tailor's scissors "zigzag". Secure all the pieces of the bag decor with a few hand stitches.
Step 4
In the middle of the flower, you can sew a large bead or make a leather button. Put a cast-iron skillet over low heat, place a round piece of genuine leather on it with the right side up and wait until it curves into a hemisphere. Do not overdo it, especially when dealing with lacquered material - it will "fry" quickly and can gather around the edges in a small fold.
Step 5
Scratch the back of the hot leather flower core with a sharpened knife to roughen it up. Now you can gently bend and glue the "fried" button with any glue for leather.
Step 6
If you wish, you can color the leather flowers with aniline dye, which can be purchased from a specialist store for designers and artists. To prepare the dye solution, carefully read the instructions on the package. Usually one sachet is enough for 0.3-0.5 liters of water. Dissolve the dye in boiling water, filter through a fine sieve and let cool to 50 degrees.
Step 7
Soak the leather parts and smooth them thoroughly so that there are no wrinkles on the surface. Add some vinegar to the paint. After that, put the flower parts in the solution and soak there until the liquid cools completely. Some craftswomen sprinkle varnish on dyed leather jewelry to set the new color.
Step 8
Think carefully about the place where the leather applique will look best. Only then sew or glue the flower onto the bag.
