Every family has an ironing board - it simplifies the process of ironing linen and clothes, since it can be collected and stored folded at any time. The folded ironing board takes up very little space, and you can always iron a large amount of laundry by assembling it. Sometimes factory ironing boards break, but the breakage of the surface of the board is not a reason to buy a new one, overpaying a large sum of money. You can make an ironing board with a new frame yourself.

Instructions

Step 1

Take a piece of furniture board 18 mm thick. Create a drawing of the ironing board and transfer the drawing in pencil to the furniture board. Along the prepared lines, cut out the surface of the board with a jigsaw. The dimensions of a standard ironing board are 1220x300 mm.

Step 2

Using an electric plane or hand-held milling machine, round off the edges on all sides of the cut part. Then cut out the blanks for the lower part of the board from planed bars with a section of 35x40 mm and also round off their edges.

Step 3

Drill through holes in long bars (three pieces of 1100 mm and two pieces of 300 mm), retreating from the middle of 30 mm towards one of the ends. Make the holes 8 mm in diameter. Then take a 25mm drill bit and drill holes for M10 bolts on two blocks on one side.

Step 4

Install a bolt with a washer in the hole and turn the block 180 degrees. Round off the upper ends of the legs with a milling machine and connect them to short bars using bolts.

Step 5

Step back from the flat edge of the board 180 mm, and then lay the structure along the center line. Connect the folding structure to the board by screwing the supports to the legs with screws. Install the foot stop on the back surface of the board in accordance with your own wishes - the height of the board can be different. Select the recess with a router.

Step 6

To upholster the board, cut out a piece of natural fabric - cotton or coarse calico measuring 1500x400 mm. Fold any soft material in four and place it on the surface of your ironing board. Then cover it with an upholstery cloth and use a furniture stapler to attach the cloth to the board from the back. Cut off excess pieces of fabric with scissors. The board is ready.
