The old table can be freshened up and fit into the new interior. Choose one of the design methods - painting, craquelure or decoupage. You can master any of them, even if for the first time you decided to take up the restoration of old things.

Instructions
Step 1
Clean old flooring from the table. This is necessary if the paint or varnish has peeled off on it. Use special formulations for this purpose - removers. Apply them on the table, wait 3-5 minutes (the exact time is indicated on the package). Scrape off the softened paint with a spatula. Also, the paint can be warmed up with a building hair dryer. True, this will take you much longer.
Step 2
Paint the table a new color. You can choose one shade or combine several. For example, painting the edge of the countertop with pistachio and the rest of the surface with light brown. The metal parts of the table are easier to process with spray paint - this will make the color smoother. The wooden table can be painted with a brush or roller.
Step 3
The combination of two colors will look good if you decorate the table in a vintage style. Paint it with one color first. When the paint is dry, apply a coat of the second shade. Wait until the coating is 80 percent dry - the paint will still be wet, but if you touch it, your finger will not stick. Apply one-step craquelure varnish with a clean brush. When the table is dry, the top layer of paint will be covered with small cracks, through which the first shade will be visible.
Step 4
The table top or legs can be decorated with a pattern. Draw a simple geometric pattern over the dried background with a thin brush. For a more complex design, cut out a stencil from cardboard, polyethylene, or self-adhesive tape. Fix the stencil only after the first layer of paint has completely dried.
Step 5
If you find it difficult to make a pattern yourself, use ready-made drawings. Decorate the table using decoupage technique. Buy paper napkins with a pattern you like. You can use special decoupage napkins or regular paper napkins. Peel off the napkin gently, peeling off the thin, patterned top layer. Cut out the pattern with scissors. Place it face up on the table and cover with PVA glue or decoupage glue on top. Apply glue with a soft brush, smoothing the pattern. When it dries (after about a day), fix the result with varnish.
