How do I tie fishhooks? Both novice fishermen and fishing masters have asked this question more than once, when prey literally floated out of their hands just because the hook was not sufficiently secured. After reading this guide, you can easily tie fishhooks yourself.
Instructions
Step 1
Use a simple spiral knot without a stopper loop, tied with a regular sewing needle. Thread the fishing line through the eye of the needle and tie the hook.
Step 2
Use field-proven nodes such as the one shown in the figure.
Step 3
If you do not want to waste time studying complex patterns of knot applications, then use one of the easiest knots to use called "Palomar".
Step 4
Do not use braided line ("braid"). It will not work for this knot, because the surface of the braid has irregularities that will not allow the knot to tighten. This knot is quite easy and convenient to knit, it is more likely to maintain the strength of the line. It is also convenient to tie a spinner to a fishing line with such a knot, especially since the manufacturers of fishing tackle themselves use it. The disadvantage of the Palomar knot is that it cannot be used for thick lines.
Step 5
To make a knot, take a fishing line, fold it in half. Draw the resulting loop into the ring of the hook. Tie the folded line in half to the hook ring using a regular knot. Throw the end of the loop over the forend, take the hook with one hand, and the ends of the line with the other, and make a knot. A hook tied with such a knot will securely hold the prey.
Step 6
If the hook is with an eye or a spatula, use a leash knot. It will reliably keep the line and will not damage its strength. If the ring at the hook is bent, then make a simple line run through it. Then draw the line to the bend and turn it to the ringlet, make a loop. Wrap the hook with 5-10 turns with the end of the fishing line. Now the line needs to be pulled from both sides - a secure knot is tied.
