One of the popular hobbies is making candles with your own hands. What types and sizes these products are! To implement your own ideas, you need to make a container in which paraffin or wax will solidify. How to make a candle mold?
Instructions
Step 1
The choice of the shape for the candle is limited only by human imagination. Containers from yoghurts, muffins, cookies, sweets, jars of creams that can withstand heating to a temperature of one hundred degrees are suitable. If desired, even an ordinary milk bag can be imprinted. The mold can be made of different materials: plastic, metal, plastic, rubber. If you use packaging, it is advisable to remove the label from it in order to prevent the objects from burning. It is important that the mold inside is smooth: it will be easier for you to remove the finished candle from it.
Step 2
Use transparent jars, glasses, bottles for making decorative candles. Since the mold is heated in a water bath, thin glass dishes are not suitable for these purposes. You can use coconut shells, eggshells, shells. In this case, you will not need to get the craft out of the mold. It will be enough just to decorate the candle additionally, and it will be ready.
Step 3
Show your imagination! You can use a regular inflated baby balloon as a mold, after pouring very cold water into it. After dipping the sphere into the melted paraffin, let the substance solidify on its surface. The procedure can be repeated several times to obtain a firm, rounded shape. After that, take out the ball, and pour the melted paraffin into the formed depression.
Step 4
Use a tin can as a candle mold. It is very convenient, because it is smooth inside, and the material can withstand significant temperature changes. If the diameter of the candle jar is not suitable, use any metal pipe of the correct size. To do this, you can go to the construction market. The advantage of such a pipe is that in cross section it can be rectangular or square, which will affect the shape of the future candle. To make a mold, a piece of pipe needs to be polished. To do this, you can take a hard washcloth for washing dishes and rub the inner surface of the cylinder. Examine the structure carefully for metal burrs. If there are notches from a cut, carefully remove them with a knife. Now fit a plug to the cylinder to prevent the paraffin from spilling out. The cork can be made of wood, rubber, food foil.
Step 5
After making the candle mold, start melting the paraffin or wax in a water bath. In a separate tin can with a flattened edge for easy pouring, melt the cinders or store-bought base.
Step 6
The mold for the future candle must be lubricated with dishwashing liquid. Vegetable oil will also work. In both cases, this is done so that the finished product can be easily removed from the mold. In some cases, it is advisable to make a hole for the wick in the bottom of the structure, if you fill the candle upside down.
Step 7
For the wick, use only natural threads that will burn, not melt. Soak them with paraffin beforehand. Attach a screw to one end of the wick as a weight, and wind the other part to a stick or toothpick. Place the thread in the center of the candle.
Step 8
Pour the melted paraffin wax into a mold and let the candle cool. Pull the wick gently to remove the item. If the candle does not give in, place it in the refrigerator directly in the mold or, conversely, under hot water. The finished product can be decorated with a ribbon, beads, decorative elements.
