Making home slippers takes an idea, basic tools, materials, and a little patience. The choice of materials, colors and shapes of slippers depends on what you want to wear - graceful slippers or warm, cozy and original sneaker-socks.

It is necessary

  • - material for the sole;
  • - the cloth;
  • - sewing accessories;
  • - decorative elements (decorative cord, buttons, sequins, etc.).

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the sole. Any insole of the right size and shape will work - you can use it as a base for slippers or as a template for cutting out the sole from leather or a substitute. The most convenient way to make a sole for warm slippers is from felt - such slippers will be warm, but they will wipe out quickly. Therefore, it is still necessary to make a leather lining.

Step 2

Make a pattern for the upper of your home shoes. Measure from the end of your big toe to the point on the instep where the top of your sneaker will end. Measure the distance from one point of the sole to the other along the top of your foot - it will be approximately equal to the width of the sole times two. On a thick piece of paper, connect the four points, you will get a sketch of the upper part.

Step 3

Cut out the top half of the sneaker. Take the selected material, attach the template and carefully trace its contours - cut out the details strictly along the lines. If you plan to make the upper out of felt or other material that wipes off quickly, then prepare two more details - a lining for slippers (made of cotton or chintz).

Step 4

Sew the details. To connect the sole and the upper half with a high quality, pierce small holes with an awl, through which you then pass a dense thread. Sew the parts with a seam outward. Remember to stitch the sole in the heel area, overcasting the edges.

Step 5

Warm your slippers. If you want to make your sneakers warm and cozy, add a fur trim - pieces of fake or real fur will need to be glued to the sole and inner side of the upper halves of the slippers. From above, the fur can be used as a decorative piece, making an ornament from pieces.

Step 6

Decorate ready-made slippers. Sew the outer seam with thick woolen or any other decorative thread; you can use threads of contrasting shades. The upper fabric of the slippers can be decorated with an applique made of pieces of fabric and leather, beaded or crocheted. Make pompons from threads, tie them together and, piercing the upper part of the slippers, fasten from the inside by tying a knot. Pass the satin ribbon through the side edges and tie a flirty bow at the top.
