Step 1
The mace is a melee weapon of shock-crushing action. It usually has a wooden or metal handle and a ball-shaped head. It also has thorns. Sometimes the head of the club is attached to the rod with a chain, sometimes it is firmly attached. The length of this weapon is approximately sixty to eighty centimeters.
Step 2
The easiest way to make a handle is made of wood at home. To do this, take a weighty stick of such a shape that it is convenient to hold it in your hands, not very thin and not very thick. Its surface should be smooth, without roughness. It must be well sanded, polished so as not to splinter your hand. You can use a baseball bat of the right size for this.
Step 3
If you have the opportunity to grind a ball on a machine, do it yourself or purchase it from a store. If you want to push the club head tightly onto the shaft, take a large nail and hammer in so that the two pieces are joined.
Step 4
If you want to make a mace with a chain (or rope), then you need to act a little differently. Drive a nail into the rod, but not completely, but make a hook out of it. Also hammer a nail into the wooden ball and bend it.
Step 5
Then take a sturdy rope and tie both ends of the rope to the two resulting hooks. If you want to use a chain, attach the outermost links to the hooks so that the chain does not slip.
Step 6
Take a thin stick and carve thorns out of it. Do not make them sharp, you are not going to seriously damage anyone, make rounded ends.
Step 7
Drill small holes in the head of the club so that the pins are difficult to enter. Drive them into these grooves. To get them in, help yourself with a hammer.
Step 8
If you want, you can add one or two additional pins on the handle (these pins can be larger). Your mace is ready. If desired, it can be decorated or varnished, stained or burned out. For example, runes.
