If you're looking for treasure in your backyard, you don't need to buy a professional metal detector. After all, you can do it yourself, having available some improvised means.
Instructions
Step 1
First of all, find an empty, unused CD box.
Step 2
Now take the radio and attach it back to the inside of the first flap of the CD package. This can be done using double-sided tape or a special patch equipped with Velcro.
Step 3
Now take out a regular calculator, which schoolchildren use, and then fix it in the same way on the inside of the second, free flap of the CD box.
Step 4
Next, turn on the radio to make sure that the radio is operating in AM mode. Now tune the radio to the highest frequency in this range. It is very important that no radio station is operating on the selected frequency. Turn up the volume and listen - you should hear noise coming from the speakers.
Step 5
If you find a working radio station at the very end of the AM band of your radio, simply tune it so that on one side you are as close to the frequency of the station as possible, but on the other you hear only noise.
Step 6
Start folding the CD case with the included calculator and radio attached to its flaps. You should hear a loud, harsh sound at some point. This signals that the radio has picked up electromagnetic waves emitted by the calculator.
Step 7
Spread the flaps of the box slightly to the sides so that the sound mentioned in the previous step is only slightly audible. Bring the structure in this position to any metal object - you will hear a sharp loud sound again. Now you will always have a home metal detector at hand, which can be improved if desired.
