Artist biography
Efim Shifrin was born on March 25, 1956 in the village of Neksikan, Magadan Region. From birth, the future artist bore the name Nakhim, which he later changed for euphony. He was brought up in a Jewish family and eventually moved with his parents and brother to warm Jurmala. There Efim entered the Faculty of Philology at the Latvian State University. During this period, his passion for creative activity arose: the young man did not miss an opportunity to perform on the stage of the student theater and soon began to dream of a career as an artist.
Without graduating from the university, Shifrin took the documents and went to Moscow, where he entered the State School of Circus and Variety Arts named after V. I. M. Rumyantseva. The young man studied in the pop department. At the same time, he began to practice, performing on the stages of the capital's theaters, and after successfully defending his diploma, he decided to get a director's education as well, enrolling in GITIS. The first official place of work of the artist was the Student Theater of Moscow State University, on the stage of which he played in dozens of memorable comedy performances.
In the 80s, Efim Shifrin won several victories in all-Union pop competitions and for the first time appeared in the television program "In Our House", reading the monologue "Mary Magdalene". From that moment on, he became a resident of the humorous programs "Around Laughter", "Full House" and others, continuing to read the author's monologues from the stage.
