Monstera is a very beautiful climbing plant with huge leaves. The leaves are very decorative and with good care they grow up to 30-35 cm in length. Native to the rainforests of South America, Monstera has spread throughout the world in the past three centuries. People also call it "crybaby", because before the rain, droplets appear on its leaves. This plant needs to be watered quite often.
It is necessary
- - watering can;
- - bags of earth.
Instructions
Step 1
Humidity in rainforests tends to be high throughout the year. Plants have periods of relative dormancy, but they cannot be completely deprived of moisture. Monstera will very quickly shed its luxurious leaves and may die. But she also does not like waterlogging of the soil. Therefore, provide the plant with good drainage. Water the flower sparingly in winter. Do not overfill. The soil should remain slightly moist all the time and nothing more. It is better to water with less water, but more often.
Step 2
Many monstera species come from the Southern Hemisphere. However, they are already so adapted to indoor life that they do not follow the natural cycle too much. Therefore, do not rack your brains when this plant has summer and when it should be winter. Set the mode exactly the same as for other indoor plants. Spring for the inhabitants of your windowsill begins in March-April. From this point on, gradually begin to water the monster more abundantly. Moisten the soil well and keep it dry. The soil should be constantly no longer wet, but wet. Thus, water the plant until October-November.
Step 3
In summer, the monster can be watered from below. The pot in which this plant lives should be in a fairly high and spacious pallet. Pour water into the drip tray periodically. Monstera will drink it with pleasure. Wait for the water to disappear and add another batch.
Step 4
Monstera very often form aerial roots. They are arranged in different ways. If the vine is still small and has few side roots, direct them vertically down. Place a large tray of water under the plant to allow moisture to reach the side roots. In large plants, tubes with water can be attached to such roots. Plastic bags filled with earth will also work. The soil must be regularly moistened.
Step 5
Monstera is not particularly demanding on air humidity and temperature. She tolerates short-term large drops quite calmly, and she herself perfectly moisturizes the air. However, try to still provide her with favorable conditions and do not let the temperature in the apartment fall below 18 ° C.
