In drawing, the most appreciated is the artist's ability to realistically reflect any thing that he sees around him. Drawing the surface of the water so that the water looks authentic is a big challenge for novice artists. The best way to create the illusion of a water surface on paper is to paint with watercolors, a light, transparent, water-based paint.
Instructions
Step 1
Dampen the paper with a wide wet brush dipped in plain water.
Step 2
Take a thinner brush, choose a paint color suitable for the water, and start applying thin horizontal strokes on wet paper.
Step 3
Determine where the horizon line will be in your drawing. Closer to the horizon line, the lines come closer to each other, the farther they are from the horizon line and closer to the lower edge of the sheet, the greater the distance between the lines. This discrepancy in distances will allow you to achieve a perspective effect.
Step 4
Always use a small amount of paint with your brush. If you take too much paint, the drawing will turn out to be too "thick", and you risk ruining it with too bright blots.
Step 5
To make the foreground of the drawing richer, where the water comes to the bottom edge of the sheet of paper, cover the paper with a light bluish tint, diluting a small amount of blue paint in the water.
Step 6
Apply brush strokes on top of the color scheme. In order not to lose the effect of transparency and volume of water, make strokes frequent - this simulates waves and ripples, and also do not cover the entire surface of the paper with color. A line of water close to the horizon can be left against the background of a white sheet.
Step 7
Do not forget to paint the sky on a moistened sheet, without which the water will not look realistic. Combine blues, yellows, bluish and white-grays to simulate cloudy or sunny weather.
Step 8
In the foreground, if you wish, you can draw a tree or a flower, which will make your drawing more interesting.
