Today, the clutch is often the object of high fashion, but it is still very practical. Of course, mittens or gloves made of modern materials can protect your hands from frostbite, but the clutch will make it more effective.
The design of the coupling is extremely simple - it is a pipe into which gloves can comfortably fit. Thus, in order to sew the simplest sleeve, you can not make a pattern, but simply calculate the dimensions of the base rectangle of the craft. If you are going to wear a clutch with a thin coat, the diameter of the finished clutch should be smaller, but if with a fur coat or oversized jacket, it should be larger.
What to sew a clutch from?
To create a clutch for hands, a lot of materials are suitable - natural and artificial fur, a variety of woolen fabrics … The warmest clutch will be made of whole fox skin or the like, but an equally warm product can be sewn from wool with a lining of woolen batting (or other filler capable of keep warm). Well, for beauty along the edge, you can make a trim from strips of fur. Also, for the convenience of wearing the clutch, you will need a silk cord, braid or leather strap.
Sewing order of the clutch
Determine the size of the coupling that is comfortable for you. This can be done by simply folding your arms as if they were in a sleeve and measuring the resulting girth. Please note that this must be done in winter clothing. Add at least 4-7 cm to the resulting measurement for a loose fit and seams. The length of the product can be approximately 30-40 cm.
Sew a lining (fine wool or polyester) to the top layer of the muff (fur or thick wool). The size of the backing must match the size of the top layer of the coupling.
Sew a seam along the pipe. You can also use a zipper or buttons to connect the clutch.
Sew a tape on opposite edges of the product, on which the sleeve will hang around your neck.
The clutch will be more convenient to use if a small zip pocket is sewn into the lining. It will be possible to put a travel ticket, keys, and other necessary little things in it.
I would also like to note that the possibilities to decorate the clutch are very great. For example, you can just pin a large brooch, but if you have the skills, the sleeve can be embroidered in any technique, decorated with bright fabric.
