Step 1
You need to prepare for filling the rink in the fall. Then the ice skating spot is right. Choose a suitable site, level it, fill in all the bumps and depressions. It is best to make a formwork or sides (then water will not pour out of the rink when pouring it) and pour sand on the surface of the future rink so that even ice can be poured in winter.
Step 2
When the right winter weather is established, you can start preparing the pour. If you are unable to make the formwork or skirting, form a snow roller around the skating rink. It will prevent the water from flowing out. Then flatten the snow and compact it. Moisten lightly with a hose and let sit overnight. Tamp again in the morning. An ice crust should form.
Step 3
The roller can now be poured. You need to pour a lot of water so that the entire site is filled with it. The water layer should be thick. It is best not to hose down, but direct the stream up. Then the ice will be smoother. because the water is distributed more evenly. Repeat the process 2 or 3 times, smoothing out the bulges and unevenness of the ice along the way. The roller should grow in layers. The last filling is done at night, with warm water. As a result, ice should be 12-15 cm thick.
