Step 1
Choose a location. A courtyard playground is ideal. It will also be possible to put a hockey goal there. If there is no such site nearby, contact your nearest utility company for help in choosing a suitable area.

Mark the boundaries of the future ice rink. It should be spacious enough. Make the most of the allocated area. But it is necessary to leave an empty area about two meters wide in order to shovel snow there during cleaning.
Step 3
Level the pad well. There should be no potholes or bumps on the ice, otherwise it will be dangerous to ride. In many ways, even ice depends on how well the site is cleaned. Remove pebbles and debris.
Step 4
Make a snow roller around the perimeter of the site. To do this, collect snow from all over the site to the edges and blind a small fence. Pour water over it.
Step 5
Pack snow on the site. A manual rammer is very useful for this. As a last resort, ask neighbors' children and adults to trample the playground properly. Cover the potholes with snow.
Step 6
Fill the skating rink with an even layer of water 0.5 cm thick. Start pouring from the far edge of the site, gradually moving to the center and the near edge. Let the water freeze. Then refill the roller and freeze it again. In this way, fill the area until a layer of ice forms sufficient for skiing.
Step 7
If you are going to host ice hockey or speed skating competitions at the rink, mark the ice. This can be done with blue and red paint. Apply a line, let it freeze and spill with water.
Step 8
Think about how you will light the skating rink. At the school stadium, you can use the lighting that is there. Yard sports grounds are also usually lit. Make sure the wiring is in order and the lights are on.
Step 9
The ice rink needs careful maintenance. Sweep the area every day, level and grow the ice. Remove the snow after the snow is over.
