Doll furniture does not always meet the wishes of the buyer, but the price is always high. Therefore, in many cases it is a good idea to make your own doll furniture.
Chest of drawers
This piece of furniture is probably the easiest to make, since the materials for it are already ready and often you don't even have to go to the store for them. It is most convenient to make a chest of drawers from matchboxes, which are different. From ordinary, household matches, you get a small chest of drawers, and a larger chest of drawers can be made from boxes from hunting matches, which are about three times larger.
In addition to matchboxes, you will need paint - best of all, acrylic, glue, paper and cardboard. Matchboxes are glued on top of each other so that the extension takes place effortlessly. It is best to use instant or epoxy glue, since PVA can deform the boxes and stop opening.
If, as a decoration, the boxes will be pasted over with paper, this is done after gluing them together, avoiding gluing the paper to the sliding parts. And if the boxes are only covered with paint, you can paint them before gluing. The paint is applied in a thin layer so that the cardboard does not deform from moisture. Handles for dresser drawers can be made from paper or cardboard, from wire, or you can use ready-made objects, for example, curly beads or colored pin heads are well suited.
Bed
Doll beds work well with shoe boxes that are the right size. Everything unnecessary is cut out in it with a sharp clerical knife, then pasted over with paper or painted, except for the frame, you will need to sew bed linen and pillows with blankets.
Slightly non-standard, but light and soft beds can be made of foam or sponges (washcloths). Styrofoam can be shaped into any shape with a sharp knife, but it is not easy to paint. For a bed of sponges, you will need at least one large and two small ones for the legs.
Sofa
A sofa is made in the same way as a bed - from a box of a suitable size. Only on one side will you need to leave a solid back and armrests on both sides. The sofa, in addition to painting, needs to be upholstered with a fabric with a filling. You can take any fabric, but preferably not too thick, so that it is easier to work with it.
It is more convenient to fit the sofa in parts, rather than as a whole. Start from the seat, gluing or stapling 2 sides of the 4 fabric with a stapler. Place the filler inside and carefully glue the remaining sides. Do the same with the back and armrests. The back is simply covered with fabric.
Another way to make the frame of the sofa soft is to cut out copies of the seat, back and armrests from cardboard, which are 2-3 mm smaller than the original. They are pasted over with a cloth, placing the filler inside, and then glued with the reverse side to the finished sofa frame. This method is also good in that it makes doll furniture stronger.
