With all the richness of the choice of toys in the store, you always want to make something special, your own. Out-of-fashion things and scraps of fabric are constantly accumulating at home, from which you can make wonderful funny soft toys for children, interior decorations or for a gift.
It is necessary
- - the cloth;
- - filler;
- - patterns;
- - multi-colored threads.
Instructions
Step 1
Try to immediately choose the fabric from which you will sew the toy. Knitwear is a versatile option because it stretches well. Faux fur and velvet can come in handy for creating wool or manes. Silk, chintz and other lightweight fabrics are essential for sewing doll clothes. Cotton can be very vibrant and is good for colorful details. The tail and nose of toy animals can be easily made from felt.
Step 2
Make the pattern from thick cardboard, which adheres well to the material and retains its shape for a long time. You can use this pattern to further create toys. Place the piece of cardboard against the fabric and gently trace around it with chalk, soap, or a marker. The outline should be clearly visible. Cut out all the details.
Step 3
You can leave a seam allowance if you are making a toy with non-flowing fabric. In this case, a small buttonhole seam will do. For loose fabric, you need to redo the pattern in accordance with the allowance. Sew the seams over the hem and turn the fabric to the right side. The threads should be strong and match the color to the fabric, in some cases you can use contrasting ones if you decorate the face of the toy with them.
Step 4
For stuffing toys, it is best to choose a synthetic winterizer that can be machine washed. Such a toy dries quickly and does not lose its shape. Tear the material into many small pieces that you should fill the workpiece tightly with. For this purpose, synthetic fluff is also suitable, which does not roll and does not cake.
Step 5
You can also use natural materials - wool and fragrant herbs. Better to take sheep's wool (sliver). The toy stuffed with this material is soft and pleasant to the touch. Pre-fluff the fur with your hands. Distribute the wool evenly, avoid unevenness, voids and pills.
Step 6
Products stuffed with natural material are very delicate. You can wash them by hand and only in cool water. Better to just wipe with a damp cloth. Once a year, the toy will have to be refilled. Before stuffing, fragrant herbs should be placed in a bag made of coarse calico or flax. In this case, it is better to make a toy with a zipper in order to change the filling in a timely manner.
Step 7
Use buttons, beads, sequins, pieces of felt or woolen thread to create the face or face of the toy. Doll hair can also be made from thick threads or ribbons.
