Starting from about three months, the child is actively interested in the surrounding objects and tries to study them. And cute and functional educational toys are easy to make with your own hands from improvised materials, even without special skills in needlework.

Step 1
Start with the simplest rattles and items on the bracelets. Take a wide hair tie. Sew bells, bells, bright large buttons, beads, small soft toys on it. You can make several different bracelets or sew different items onto one. The main thing is to use large enough parts and fix them as securely as possible.
Step 2
When the baby actively begins to roll over on his stomach and consider the world around him, it's time to make a developmental mat. Take a thick diaper or towel. Sew on it pieces of different fabrics (cotton, silk, jeans, faux fur), make a couple of pockets, one of them can be zipped, fasten a bell on a string or braid, make a small bag and sew a rustling bag in it. Sew on ribbons and tie them in a bow. Imagine and be inspired by the material you find at home. Try to use multi-colored fabrics in pleasant shades: bright and pastel. You can make 3-4 different rugs and change them periodically.
Step 3
Sew several bags together and fill them with different contents. It is advisable to use small objects that are not afraid of water as a filler: beads, larger beads of different sizes and shapes, cellophane, pieces of fabric, coins. Then you can wash them. Sew the pouches carefully around the perimeter so that the contents do not spill out.
Step 4
Take the shoebox. Cut holes of different shapes and sizes in the lid, focusing on the items that you can put in this box (cubes, pencils, coins, balls, etc.). You can leave the lid unsecured, or you can insert a sheet of cardboard at an angle and cut a hole at the bottom so that the items roll out.
Step 5
Buy a couple of sets of regular clothespins. Cut out the base of the figure from thick cardboard - a sun, a hedgehog, a tree, earth, a flower without petals, etc. Draw eyes and smiles where appropriate. Let the child complement the composition with clothespins.
