Hot coals are placed in it, and on them are pieces of incense or other aromatic mixture. The smoke comes out through the holes in the censer and fumigates the room.

Charcoal tablets, which are sold in church shops or esoteric stores, can be used as fuel for burning incense at home. Charcoal is also suitable for hookahs. It is also sold as small sticks and tablets that are convenient to use at home. Charcoal is fired with ordinary matches. If you are having trouble, you can use a special charcoal lighter fluid available from hardware stores.

When fumigating an apartment or house with incense, you need to keep in mind that its heavy aroma, if excessively concentrated, can cause headaches and dizziness. Therefore, when lighting incense in an apartment, take care of good ventilation of the room and do not close the vents or windows throughout the entire fumigation time, so as not to harm the health of those present.
