If you are a painter and need an easel, you don't have to go to a specialty store and buy one there. A small easel, the so-called cracker, is quite easy to make yourself.
This easel is suitable for both beginners and professional artists. This is an extremely simple, comfortable and lightweight easel.
It is necessary
- - 2 wooden beams
- - jigsaw for wood
- - sandpaper
- - half a sheet of plywood
- - screws
- - 2 loops
Instructions
Step 1
First, let's make a list of all the parts and their sizes. This easel has a very simple design. It is easy to use, lightweight and takes up little space, which is important when transporting it.
You don't have to draw any complicated assembly diagrams. It consists of four pieces of wood and a sheet of plywood.
The easiest way to buy on the market is four beams 2 by 6 centimeters and two meters high, a sheet of 3 mm plywood 100 by 60 centimeters. Two small hinges and screws will be needed to hold the two halves of the easel together.
Next, you need to decide on the height. It should be comfortable to work at the easel. If you are doing it for yourself, then sit on a chair with a sheet of plywood, the future work plane, and position it at a height that is convenient for you.
The average height of an adult easel, crackers, ranges from 140 to 170 centimeters. Easels are divided into standing and seated. And they are designed to work while standing and sitting, respectively.
If you are making an easel for your child, then its size will depend on the age of the young artist.
Unwind the four slats to the size you want. They will become the legs of the easel. The saw cut should be even, and the legs should be the same in height, check.
You are left with four pieces of the trimmed beams. They will go to fastening the legs. Measure and cut them to the desired width. It should match the width of the plywood sheet.
Go through all the details with fine sandpaper. Grind them so that it is not possible to drive the splinter. After assembly, this operation will be inconvenient.
Step 2
Putting the parts together. The legs can be fastened with wooden caps. This is the most reliable way.
Drill two shallow - 1-2 centimeters - holes with a wide drill at the end of the rail and in the place on the leg where you will attach it. Make two round caps and cover them with glue and fasten the parts. The caps should come in with some effort.
Fasten the legs in the middle and at the top.
It can also be fastened with self-tapping screws, this option is easier, but the structure will be less durable. You should have two exactly the same pairs of legs. Fasten them at the top with two loops about 5 cm from the edge. Screw the hinges into the cross-rail body. On one side, screw a sheet of plywood onto self-tapping screws.
Step 3
For convenience, you can screw another rail to the bottom of the plywood sheet. You can put pencils and an eraser there.
Paint or varnish your easel. So it will last longer and look prettier.
