When playing songs, the media player often displays the cover art of the album that the track belongs to. This image is actually stored in the mp3 file itself and is a tag. Tags (or metadata) are related information contained in a music track file: song lyrics, album art, artist name, genre, year, etc. You can change these tags at your discretion, for example, insert a picture into an mp3 file.

It is necessary

  • - a computer;
  • - tag editor program

Instructions

Step 1

There are special programs for editing tags: MP3 Tag Tools, SBTag, Mp3Tag, Pistonsoft MP3 Tags Editor, TagScanner. Some of them are paid, some are free. You can read about them and choose the utility you like.

Step 2

One of the handy and free programs is the TagScanner tag editor. It works with mp3, aac, ogg, flac, mp4, wma, TrueAudio, WavePack, Speex, OptimFrog, Monkey's Audio and Musepack formats. TagScanner supports all metadata formats: ID3 tags 1.0 / 1.1 / 2.2 / 2.3 / 2.4, mp4 (iTunes), wma, Vorbis Comments, ape v1 and v2. Download the distribution kit of the program from the Xdlab.ru website and install. During installation, you can select the Russian interface language.

Step 3

Run the program. Click on the "Browse" in the bottom pane and select a folder to work with. The program window will display the sound files contained in this folder. The File Name column will contain their names, and the Artist column will show the artist. Select the line of the desired track with the left mouse button. Click the TAG editor button on the top toolbar. The contents of the right side of the program window will change. Scroll down and see the Covers section.

Step 4

Click on the white icon with a green cross ("Load picture from file") and find the picture on your hard drive that you want to insert into the file. The picture you have selected will be displayed in place for the cover in the program window. Click "Save" - the tag (in this case, the image) will be written to the file. You can also insert one cover at the same time into several tracks (for example, if they belong to the same music album). To do this, before adding a picture, select several files at once, holding down the Ctrl key.

Step 5

If the music file already contains a picture and you want to save it, click on the floppy disk icon ("Extract picture to external file"). Specify the directory to save. Now you can use this picture and insert it into other tracks.
